EXCELLENCE AND DIVERSITY – 2nd DE-I-TECT LECTURE ON 2 OCTOBER 2024 at University of Bonn

2 OCTOBER, 2024, 10:30 – Please register for Ute Klammer’s talk in Bonn

Dear DETECT-Community,

Please do not forget to register for our second DE-I-TECT lecture “Excellence and Diversity

Professor Ute Klammer from University Duisburg-Essen will give a scientific talk about her research covering the core DETECT-relevant questions: what is scientific excellence and how can this be rendered visible?

Various studies provide evidence that women and men are perceived and evaluated differently in their academic performance. In fact, this means that white men appear to be advantaged over their women counterparts. Their actions and abilities, as well as their appearance, are often linked to a higher level of competence. Women researchers are frequently not (made) visible in public and within their disciplines, which is why they are perceived less often as innovators than their men colleagues are.

In her lecture, Professor Klammer will address questions of understanding scientific excellence and diversity, and discuss how they are related - are they friends or foes? - and how important is a balance between excellence and diversity for sustaining scientific excellence.

More details about her research can be found on the EXENKO project website. Please register by Sept-15 for organisational reasons (food and drinks, hybrid options) here!

The programme starts at 10.30 am in Nußallee 17, first floor. The lecture will be followed by a networking lunch until 1.30 pm.

Please share the invitation in your networks, everybody is invited.
