CRC Lecture Series - Economic modelling of land use

Wolfgang Britz will introduce the students to the approach used in D01 “Scenario development” to project globally for the next decades changes in land cover and use with detail for individual crops and sub-national detail. The presentation will briefly motivate the approach underlying D01, introduce the students to Computable General Equilibrium modeling and some specifics of the model used in D01, and gives an overview on the underlying data base and the narratives of the scenarios. This will be followed by a software demonstration and presentation of some preliminary results. The lecture does not target an audience with a background in economics, but assumes that participants have followed previous presentations by the economists involved in DETECT.
